Privacy

Mic on, light on.

Bud is designed with a small light wired to its microphone, like the camera light on a laptop. When the mic has power, the light is on, and no software can switch it off.

  • You choose how it listens.

Say “Hey Bud” and it answers, or turn that off and it listens only when you tap. Double-tap Bud to turn its mic off.

  • Your words stay yours.

What Bud hears is written down on your phone when it can, and notes stay on your phone. When the phone can’t, Bud’s server writes it down and keeps nothing.

  • Asks before it acts.

Sending, booking and buying wait for your OK.

The mic light is part of the final hardware design. Questions about privacy? Write to hello@meetbud.app.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is Bud?

A small round device with a screen that sits on the back of your phone. Inside is an AI agent you talk to. Tap it, ask for something, and Bud works on it, showing you its progress with its face.

What can it do?

The everyday stuff: your calendar, reminders and timers, messages and calls, directions, the weather, music, notes of your meetings and quick answers. Bud’s face shows its progress, and anything important waits for your tap.

Will it work with my phone?

Our iPhone app is in beta now. Android is planned.

How does it attach?

The final Bud snaps onto the back of your phone with magnets, below the camera, and comes off when you want. Today’s prototype is a development board in an aluminum case.

How do I see what Bud is doing?

Flip your phone. Bud’s screen rests to save battery and wakes up when you flip to it or tap it.

Is it always listening?

Only if you want it to. With “Hey Bud” on, Bud listens through its own mic for its name. Turn it off and Bud listens only when you tap. Double-tap Bud to turn its mic off, and the final hardware adds a light wired to the mic, so you can see whenever it can hear.

Does it work with the AI I already use?

Yes. With Bud Connect, agents like Claude and ChatGPT can show their work on Bud and wait for your tap before they act. Bud also has its own assistant built in.

How much is it, and when does it ship?

Bud is a working prototype today, and we’re making our own slim board for the first units. The waitlist hears first about price and timing.

Can I try it now?

Yes, in your browser at meetbud.app/app: Bud’s face and a demo of its assistant. The full Bud app is in beta on iPhone.

Can I change how Bud looks?

Yes. Looks change Bud’s colors and outfit, like a party hat or a pair of shades. Pick them in the app, and Bud wears them on its own screen. Visit places to find new pieces.
